About Sleeve Gastrectomy

If you're struggling with obesity or a related condition, you may be an excellent candidate for a sleeve gastrectomy. Residents have benefited from this minimally invasive, laparoscopic surgery and have achieved significant weight loss results. A sleeve gastrectomy reduces the size of the stomach, therefore reducing appetite, caloric intake, and weight. This procedure also removes the portion of the stomach which produces Ghrelin, a hormone known to be responsible for stimulating appetite.

Dr. Bonnor has extensive experience in laparoscopic surgeries. By making a small incision and using a small camera, Dr. Bonnor is able to operate with minimal scarring. Though a sleeve gastrectomy should be sufficient to achieve significant weight loss, this procedure is sometimes performed along with a duodenal switch. During your consultation with Dr. Bonnor, a full medical history will be taken before any procedure is recommended. Our staff is dedicated to keeping our patients informed, allowing you to make an educated decision regarding your procedure.

Not everyone is a good candidate for a sleeve gastrectomy. Residents who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 32.5 or higher may be well suited for the procedure. Bariatric surgeries are performed on moderately obese people when they are also suffering from a condition such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea.

Come to Texas Endosurgery Associates for a consultation, and see what options are available to you. Dr. Bonnor is well-known for both his surgical skills and his post-operative care. As you recover from your procedure, Dr. Bonnor will provide you with a dietician to help you develop healthy eating habits to maintain your weight loss which is an important factor in sustaining the success of a sleeve gastrectomy. Residents suffering from obesity or obesity-related conditions are encouraged to be proactive and take the first step toward improving their health. Schedule an appointment today.
